Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed

The name AWANA originated from 2 Timothy 2:15 . . . “ Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.'"

We are very excited to be offering AWANA as a ministry to children at Selma Baptist Church and our community. We are looking forward to seeing children grow in their knowledge of Jesus Christ and in their relationship with Him, ultimately accepting Him as Lord and Savior.

It is our desire to help your child deepen their understanding of Biblical truths by learning God’s word. As they come faithfully each week and memorize scripture, you will see this happen. We will do our part to teach God’s word in a fun and loving way. We ask that you do your part by helping your child(ren) learn the verses and then bring them faithfully each week.
Cubbie preschoolers  (3 and 4 year olds)  have a fun, friendly place to hear about God's greatness!   They learn the Gospel through  excitging games, Scripture memory and understandable curriculum.   Cubbies resources have been created to help parents raise their children to respect God's soverignty.

The  Sparkies    (K through grade 2)  are eager to gain wisdon about the Bible, and the club helps parents guide them.  Children who grow up in the AWANA clubs have the benefit of years of powerful spiritual teaching, but first-time clubbers can also grow to truly love Christ.

The next club (grades 3 through 5), called Truth and Training (T & T) love Christ and want to glorify Him.  Exciting club curriculum encourages these clubbers (fourth through sixth-graders) to live lives of grace and mercy.  Fresh, updated material encourage bold peer evangelism, while the convenient guide helps leaders disciple in more powerful ways.  These and other great materials prepare leaders to engage clubbers while shepherding them with dynamic spiritual teaching.
The Middle School (grades 6 through 8) Curriculum Program from 24-7 Ministries or Trek has it all . . . solid teaching with
contemporary application.  This program will help instill in students a deeper understanding of unique destinies as followers of God.  Trek is adaptable to use whatever parts best fit the youth ministry -- from Sunday School or small group curriculum, to a complete middle-school ministry program and anywhere in between.  With three years' worth of material, this program is perfectly suited for seventh- and eighth-grade ministry.

The Awana program for grades 9 through 12 (Journey) places a strong Emphasis on Life Application, Thorough Apologetics and Scripture Memory – Invaluable Ingredients for Character-Shaping Discipleship. These Materials are Challenging Yet Meaningful to Seekers, Nominal Believers and Fervent Followers of Christ.
